My doctor told me not to try Vaginal Steaming, why?
Many doctors and nay sayers are simply unaware of the facts of herbal steaming. The most common concern expressed by doctors and OBGYN’s is burning and/or disruption of internal flora. Much like anything with hot water, common sense and attention to detail will assure you of a safe and healthy experience with wonderful benefits. In regard to the natural flora, often many woman’s symptoms are the result of an already unbalanced flora and steaming will bring the internal environment back into balance.Back to Index

Can I steam if I have an IUD?
Because an IUD is an intrauterine device, there is always the chance that the IUD could shift or dislodge. Women have reported good success steaming with a copper IUD. We do not encourage steaming with a plastic or metal IUD. However, Nourished Woman recommends that individuals be mindful of their own body and symptoms. Steaming can be very helpful for issues that present with IUD use and should you decide to try steaming with an IUD, steams need to be short and carefully monitored. **If your IUD is in place as an attempt to alleviate menstrual symptoms, note that steaming alone can resolve these issues and eliminate the need for an IUD.Back to Index

Fibroids, one of the most misunderstood ailments in women’s health. (Insert rant here, LOL!) Fibroids are a build up mucous adhering to the uterine wall. Steaming will gently release and liquefy this adhesion allowing the uterus to shed the fibroid naturally. No surgery needed! Steam is a wonderful agent for softening, loosening and cleaning and these properties are a fabulous compliment to the uterine environment.Back to Index

Endometriosis is a build up of unshed uterine lining which often begins to grow outside of the uterus causing extreme discomfort and debilitating pain, as well as fertility issues. Steaming is a wonderful healing agent for this condition. The steam will gently loosen and soften the residual build up allowing the uterus to shed properly. This brings relief, reduced cramping and eventually can help women suffering from this condition to experience monthly cycles that no longer prevent them from living their daily lives.Back to Index

I am post menopausal, how can steaming help?
Post menopausal women are perfect candidates for steaming. After menopause, women’s bodies experience many changes including hormonal imbalances and loss of muscle tension in the pelvic floor. Consequences of these situations can include such things as vaginal dryness, lowered libido, urinary incontinence, and hemorrhoids just to name a few. Steaming will resolve the issue of vaginal dryness and will restore muscle tension to allow organs to resume their natural function improving prolapse, bladder leaks, relief of hemorrhoids, and the list goes on! You’ll have to try it to believe it but we know you will be amazed!Back to Index
I have had a partial or full hysterectomy. Are there any benefits to steaming for me?
Absolutely there are!! Post hysterectomy the pelvic floor can struggle to hold its integrity. Steaming will create a natural lift and bring integrity back to the perineum and the pelvic floor. This increased strength will also help the bladder to regain it’s integrity, preventing leaks and increasing the volume of urine that can be held comfortably.Back to Index
