Lorraine is from Markham, ON and now resides and works in London, ON. Lorraine grew up loving the arts and was always creating and drawing. This progressed throughout school although initially she put it aside during post–secondary education for a career in nursing. Over time though, the need to create art returned stronger than ever, necessitating a change in career paths.
She has a wide variety of interests and creates artwork in many different mediums including watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, encaustic as well as pencil, ink and Zentangle®. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 2011. She was a part of the London Artists Studio Tour last year as well.
She is now very happy to be following her heart’s dream of being a professional visual artist after a successful 20 year career as a nurse practitioner.
She teaches drawing, the Zentangle® method and is also in the works planning a class on using the non-dominant hand in creating meaningful expressive artwork. She is a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) which means she has done an intensive training in Providence, Rhode Island, USA with the founders of Zentangle, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. She likes helping people access their inner creativity. She is also looking at developing classes that pull together a number of her loves and experiential trainings that she has attended including The Artists Way Creativity Camp and Facilitating Skills Seminar – Jack Canfield training.
The Wisdom of Your Other Hand!
Do you have trouble listening to your inner voice? Want some new ways to connect to your inner wisdom? This is an introductory sonic expressive workshop. You will experience sound, vibration, and connecting with emotions and feelings in working with creative activities using your non-dominant hand.
The Art of Zentangle**
Lorraine will teach you about the “zen” in the Zentangle® art form and how the simple act of drawing intentional lines can not only create beautiful patterns, but can also lead to an increased sense of well-being. The Zentangle® Method was developed as a way for anyone to access their creativity and “can be an elegant metaphor for a deliberate artistry of life”. You will learn several individual tangle patterns and work on official Zentangle products.
**This workshop will be limited to 20 participants. You will be asked upon registration if you would like a spot in this workshop provided space is still available. Register for the weekend early to save your spot!!
